Paddleboarding is one of the coolest ways to stay ~balanced~ during the summer because it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and stay active, even when temps hit close to 100.

With this hot and humid DC summer weather, we’ll take any excuse to get out on the water. Agree?

You should because regardless if you’re a pro or a newbie, there is a scenic paddleboarding spot waiting for you to find it. Here are 6 of our favorites, so read all about them, then get out on the water and have some fun!

Key Bridge Boathouse

3500 Water St NW

Cost: $20 / hour

Key Bridge Boathouse has some of the best views for any water activities. Paddle around the monuments, under the Key Bridge, and to Roosevelt Island! If you’re trying paddleboarding for the first time, the Boathouse has a well-trained, knowledgeable staff that’ll guide you through the proper movements.

#FrayLife Tip: Key Bridge Boathouse offers fitness and yoga on boards and even a 90-minute guided monument tour for $45. You’ll be able to see unobstructed and unique views of the Lincoln and Washington monuments (perfect time for a selfie…don’t forget to tag us using #FrayLife)!

River Riders

408 Alstadts Hill Rd, Harpers Ferry

Cost: $29 / 2 hours (weekdays), $34 / 2 hours (weekends)

Head over to Harpers Ferry and turn your paddleboarding adventure into an all-day escape! Paddle along the Appalachian Mountains and take in the breathtaking views while enjoying the calm, clear waters. Just learning to paddleboard or just want to improve? Take advantage of their 3-hour lessons for just $99.

The Wharf Boathouse

700 Water St, SW

Cost: $22 / hour

The Wharf has become one of the most popular new spots in DC for a lot of reasons. One of the big reasons it’s so popular is because the waterfront has all the water activities you could want, and, yes, that includes paddleboarding! Not only can you just rent a board, but they offer guided tours, beginners classes, and yoga/fitness on the water!

#FrayLife Tip: With high rises reflecting the sun on the marina and extended summer hours (until 8:30 pm), this spot is the perfect place to go for a sunset paddleboarding ride!

National Harbor

165 Waterfront St (National Harbor Waterfront)

Cost: $22 / hour

The National Harbor has plenty of paddle boards and water activities to take advantage of! Rent a board and paddle your way around the waterfront, the Capital Wheel, and the Gaylord Hotel. Have yourself a day, enjoy the water, and explore all that National Harbor waterfront has to offer.

#FrayLife Tip: If you decide to stay and explore National Harbor, hit up Flight Deck for lunch! It’s a new outdoor bar and restaurant with some great views of the area.

Fletcher’s Boathouse

4940 Canal Rd, NW

Cost: $22 / hour

If you’re looking for a less crowded, more quiet paddleboarding experience, head over to Fletcher’s Boathouse. Located right on Canal Rd, this spot is convenient, unique and a local favorite. Whether you want to paddle on your own or with a guide, this spot is great for a relaxing day. They also offer 90-minute paddle tours of Fletcher’s Cove for $45!

Take some paddle-boarding photos of your own and tag us using #FrayLife and #DcFray.
