An Introduction to Carter…
March 24, 2020 @ 6:27pm
Hello? Is this thing on? *Taps mic*
My name is Carter and I am new to writing (a.k.a., I don’t typically contribute to District Fray Magazine (the artist formerly known as On Tap). Quick warning: This will undoubtedly be different from the polished, amazing journalists that you are used to reading here. You could call me a wild child, a disrupter or even a monkey at a keyboard, but either way, you’re about to go on a journey with ya boy Carter here. Buckle up, go to the bathroom now and for the love of all things holy in this world, wash your damn hands. [Editor’s note: I put hand sanitizer on immediately after this.]
We are currently at a crossroads in the universe of sports. We are in the suffocating grip of the virus that must not be named and the repercussions that resulted in canceled live sports as we know it. But fret not, young Padawans, for we have the Internet – where some major leagues are allowing us to get our sports fix in by streaming, until those go dry too.
But what are we ever going to do without a compass guiding us?
That is where ya boy Carter and your favorite deputy editor Trent Johnson (T-Bone for short) come in. He is unaware at the current moment, BUT we will be teaming up in the coming weeks to break down what vintage games and competitions you have to watch before the world is back up and running again.
Today marks the first taste of the sweet, sweet nectar of sports coming down the pipeline. We will be reviewing the 2020 Duke vs. UNC overtime classic next Wednesday. That will be when the inaugural edition of Riding the Pine with Carter debuts, which is where I will give some kind of weekly recap of what I watched the week before.
Now I know this is a ton of information (and we are still at less than 500 words!), but everyone take a breather. Go stretch your legs and throw on the game.
Class dismissed.
