In the Great Vigil for Easter at Church of the Advent, we journey through the story of creation, the fall of mankind, our journey in the wilderness, and Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross using scripture, liturgy, music, and art. Historically, the Great Vigil for Easter was an all-night service and was the time new believers were baptized into the church after a season of catechesis. After the baptisms, the service culminated with the Easter acclamation of “Alleluia, Christ is risen!” While ours won’t be all night, we will commemorate our baptisms, and acclaim the resurrection together.
