Literally Just Vibing: Playlists You Need in Your Spotify Library
April 21, 2020 @ 11:56am
Need some new tunes? Check out these five playlists – two by yours truly, and three by tastemakers we admire – for songs to fill your weekend.
To Throw On In The Background
I made this playlist at the beginning of “the quar” as I now not-so-lovingly refer to it, and revisit it a lot to have on while working from home, having a digital happy hour or getting in some at-home yoga.
For Throwback Sounds With A Modern Twist
This playlist was inspired by modern musicians using the sounds of yesteryear in their music. It’s great to throw on while cooking or when you feel like pretending you’re a 50s homemaker crafting bread from scratch on your own volition instead of out of boredom! One of our favorites, Lake Street Dive, makes an appearance on this playlist – check out our interview with the band from last year here!
For The Latest and Greatest
I’m a big fan of Sad Girl Co., an Atlanta-based media company covering the best of their community. They have their fingers on the pulse for music in Atlanta and beyond, and their frequently-updated Weekly Listening Essentials keeps me on top of everything I need to be listening to now, from artists I already love to exciting new discoveries.
For A Pick Me Up
Rostam Batmanglij, formerly of Vampire Weekend and currently producing music by a ton of your faves, gathered an assortment of queer, quirky and classic songs to pick you up out of your quarantine funk.
For A Little Bit of Everything
Matt Berninger, frontman of The National, shared this playlist that’s a little all over the place in the best way. Great for days when you can’t settle on a genre or artist and just want to listen to it all. Plus, it’s eight hours long, so it can literally carry you through the day.
