Welcome to District Fray’s Quarantine Social Club roundup, where our chief anti-boredom officer (just kidding, assistant editor) gives you things to do when you have nothing to do. Below are some events from our friends around town that we think are worth checking out this weekend.

Fancy Party

Seven Reasons won’t let the current state of things deter them from celebrating their first anniversary safely and in style. Order takeout or delivery from this 14th Street spot, cook your own dinner in the style of this hit Latin American eatery and tune in from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Zoom. There, Seven Reasons will live stream their kitchen and dining room, complete with music and top notch ambiance, so you can toast to their first year and add something special to your weekend dinners in isolation.

Grabbing takeout from Seven Reasons or their lunch option Soleado’s Pop-Up to celebrate this weekend, or planning on it sometime in the future? Not only will your patronage be rewarded by a delicious meal, you’ll receive early access to book a table when they do reopen. That date is TBD, but no matter when they reopen their doors, you’ll have something exciting to look forward to in the future. You can tune into the Zoom party Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. by clicking here. To order takeout from Seven Reasons and Soleado’s Pop-Up, click here. Everyone who orders takeout will also receive links to the Zoom party.

The Show Must Go On

Join Adventure Theatre MTC, District Dramatists and 4615 Theatre Company as local writers create flash works and read them on Facebook live. Each script will have five elements that must be incorporated, adding a creative challenge to these on-the-fly works. Vote for your favorites via likes and choose wisely, as the winner will receive a cash prize. Readings start as early as 10 a.m., so whip up some brunch and get ready to be inspired and entertained. To learn more or tune in starting Sunday at 10 a.m., click here.

Bagel Bites

Sick of the homemade bread trend already? Hop on the bagel train with this class from Sonny’s on Sunday April 19 at 4 p.m. so you can craft your own perfect bagel brunch. The class allows you to pay what you can to support Sonny’s, and the class is valued at $100. You’ll receive a list of ingredients beforehand, and written instructions will be supplied in addition to the instructional Zoom call. Get some cream cheese, lox and capers and get ready to stuff your face with bagels of your own creation. Click here to register or learn more.

Live from your Living Room

Grab yourself a drink and turn your living room into a local venue for the ultimate Sunday Funday with this show by the lovely folks at Comet Ping Pong with their Comet Live From Home Concert on Instagram Live. This show is full of local acts who will be performing in full or with parts of their band. Tune in for the musical stylings of Bad Moves, Bartees Strange, Born Dad, Bottled Up, BRNDA, Janel and Anthony, Lightmare, Luke Stewart, Mister, Goblin, Nah., The North Country, Pen Palindrome, SIR E.U and Yardley the band. RSVP to the event here, and tune into Instagram live @cometpingpong starting at 4 p.m.

Other Things to do This Weekend

Make some dalgona coffee (or a fancy mimosa, we won’t judge) and read our April issue.

Or watch a wildly underrated TV show – no more of The Office’s theme song pervading your every thought.

Join DC Fray’s Virtual Community. Our pick: yoga brunch!
