Meet the Kane Show
December 6, 2014 @ 12:00am
Morning rush hour in the Washington region can trigger emotions ranging from tedium to despair, but thankfully, the morning team at The Kane Show on HOT 99.5 FM is there every weekday to help us get to work with a smile.
From the War of the Roses segments that take a humorous look at relationship issues, to Intern John’s oddball antics, to the steady rotation of the hottest pop music hits, the show maintains a positive, upbeat energy. Led by Kane, the popular anchor of The Kane Show, the team’s chemistry is undeniable.
“We’re a big family and it’s the sum of our parts that makes the morning team so entertaining,” Kane told On Tap. “I get to play Dad on the show, as I do at home, while trying to maintain potential chaos. Intern John is always the one who ends up saying what most people are thinking – children and animals trust him.”
“Danni is our den mom who just had her second daughter,” Kane added, referring to the show’s newest member, who is a former Miss Minnesota and reality TV star. “She found her home with us helping to keep John in line. Rose is your best friend that your brother always had a crush on. She’s honest and sometimes innocent to a fault. “
And then, of course, there’s Intern John – the heart of the Kane Show, known throughout the DMV for his frequent public appearances, irreverent sense of humor and generous spirit.
“We call Intern John our kaleidoscope,” Kane said. “Just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s something new and lovable about him. Philanthropy is a big thing for John, from writing an anti-bullying book, which he reads to elementary kids, and starring his dog Chuy, to emceeing the UMD Color Run, to volunteering his time for the Alliance For Lupus research, John is always out shaking hands and giving ‘free hugs’.”
Kane can hardly believe his luck working with this particular morning crew.
“When you put all those different personalities together, along with a somewhat high-strungproducer like Erick, who was born and raised in Bethesda, fun happens,” he said. “I love working with my best friends.”
While the morning team is known for its great sense of humor, HOT 99.5 FM also stays at the forefront of the hottest trends in pop music. Thanks in part to HOT 99.5 FM’s promotional efforts, Christmas is coming to DC early again this year – at least for the 16,000 music fans lucky enough to snag tickets for the annual Jingle Ball extravaganza at Verizon Center on Dec. 15.
“Every December, the lineup for Hot 99-5’s Jingle Ball brings together the year’s biggest musical acts, this year is no exception,” Kane said. “It really is a veritable who’s who of hit music. 5 Seconds of Summer, Calvin Harris, OneRepublic, Iggy Azalea – that’s just a taste of who will be there. It’s a non-stop party at the Verizon Center.”
The tour, which kicked off Dec. 2 in Dallas, now spans 12 cities, including New York and Miami. The DC date will also include Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Lil Jon, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Kiesza, Rixton, Rita Ora and Shawn Mendes, with special guest host Nick Jonas. Kane said the musical extravaganza is at the vanguard of major live music productions.
“Jingle Ball is unique because of the experience,” Kane said. “It’s sixteen of the hottest artists and it’s non-stop thanks to a rotating stage. As soon as Iggy Azalea is done, Jessie J is ready to go. Really, every part of Jingle Ball is exciting, including some between act surprises that we get to orchestrate on-stage and on the big screens.”
Unfortunately, tickets to Jingle Ball are sold out. But there is still one way to score a ticket.
“Since tickets are sold out, the only way in is to win,” Kane said. “Make sure you listen to Hot 99.5 and enter online at www.hot995.com, this is a party you don’t want to miss!
