Making the Most of the Fourth in the District

July 2, 2019 @ 12:00am | Briana Florez

July 4th is a special day for all Americans, as we remember the legendary day the Declaration of Independence was signed, birthing the United States as an independent country!

There truly is no better place to spend the fourth than in the nation’s capital. Around every corner and down every street in DC is a patriotic themed event on the fourth. You really can’t go wrong with a multitude of firework shows and parties to choose from.

However, if you want some suggestions, take a look at five 4th of July events happening this Thursday we think would be perfect for you day and night out, or even a date night!

  1. Fireworks on the National Mall

Celebrate Independence Day in classic DC style – with fireworks on the National Mall. It’s the perfect way to end a day of celebrating our freedom, with the fireworks starting around 9:07 p.m. The fireworks are visible from various locations throughout DC and Northern Virginia.

#FrayLifeTip: This specific event draws huge crowds. Make sure to get there early!

  1. Red, White and Blue Skies Rooftop Party

If you’re looking for a party that will keep you entertained early on in the afternoon, and all night long, look no further than The Graham Georgetown’s rooftop party. DJ EPX will have the music covered from 12-8 pm. There will also be “booze snowballs,” a backyard BBQ buffet, special red, white, and blue cocktails, and a fireworks show at 9 p.m.!

#FrayLifeTip: A $100 general admission ticket includes unlimited bites from the backyard BBQ.

  1. July 4th Dinner Cruise

Board the Spirit of Mt. Vernon for an Independence Day fireworks dinner cruise. The Independence Day Package includes delicious cuisine, spectacular fireworks views, entertainment, access to a rooftop deck, and platinum open bar.

#FrayLifeTip: If you want to add some romance to the dinner, get the “Romance for Two” dinner upgrade!

  1. Nationals Game

Nothing screams America more than America’s pastime! Start your morning the right way at Nationals Park, for the last game of the series against the Miami Marlins. Tickets for the game start at $16.

#FrayLifeTip: The Nationals will host a special “Freedom Fireworks” show on July 3.

  1. 4th of July BBQ at Officina

Spice up the holiday with this Italian-style barbeque at 4 p.m. The barbeque will include roasted porchetta, local seafood, summer salads, a gnocchi bar, and dessert. Stick around for the fireworks show at the Wharf at 9 p.m. Tickets are $125-250.

What do you have planned for America’s holiday? Be sure to share with us all the fun you have using #DCFray and #FrayLife on social.

Here are some other cool things to do in the district this July!
