Whether you’re a regular on the brunch scene, or new to the area, we’ve decided to make things a little easier for you by providing insight into the best brunch spots our region has to offer. Howard Theatre Sunday Gospel Brunch
This historic building hosts Gospel Brunch every Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. and features all-you-can-eat soul food and live music. It’s an intimate place for music and food lovers to sit back and enjoy the blissful sounds of gospel and the mouth-watering tastes of homestyle southern buffet. With a brunch menu designed by Chef Marcus Samuelsson, you can’t go wrong with any of the food options, some of which include catfish fingers with tartar sauce and bourbon brown sugar French toast with pecans. The world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir really brings the right energy on a lazy Sunday morning and its dynamic show is meant to inspire crowds. This isn’t just any show – it’s a lively concert that will certainly wake you up and turn your boring Sundays into vivacious events. Hamilton Sunday Gospel Brunch
This Sunday Gospel Brunch is extremely popular and offers refreshing, sophisticated drinks along with a delicious variety of brunch food options. Creative breakfast items and traditional dishes are on display a la carte. But what makes this brunch extra special is their live performances. It’s perfect for those who are looking for a joyous occasion with their morning meal. Sunday Gospel Brunch features emerging and award-winning acts from the local scene and around the world. Brunches are every Saturday and Sunday, but Sunday Gospel Brunch occurs only when musicians and groups can be booked. The next live show is on April 20. The Gospel Persuaders will perform three shows throughout the day starting at 10 a.m. Sunday Gospel Brunch is consistently sold-out so buying tickets online early is key to catching the show. The Beer: Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Unser Aventinus
The Cereal: Kellog’s Raisin Bran Crunch
Experiments lead to innovations right? Well the guys at RFD decided to tinker with the idea of using beer for brunch—after all, “hair the dog” works best after those late nights and early morning headaches. Aventinus is a darker wheat ale, a ruby-brown color and its flavor is deep and complex with strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums. Its roasted and wheat malts add a bread and cereal character. It pairs well with lots of things, but you probably never considered cereal. Why Raisin Bran Crunch? Well, the raisin flavor pairs with the ‘Two Scoops’ of actual raisins in Kellog’s Raisin Bran and the liquorice aroma of the Aventinus also compliments the brown sugar added to the oat clusters.
