U.S.VETS to Hosts Veterans Day Event: Public officials and community partners plan to honor veteran residents at a temporary housing facility on Veterans Day

U.S.VETS, a non-profit devoted to ending veteran homelessness through housing, mental health assistance, and workforce development, will be hosting a Veterans Day luncheon on Friday, November 11 at its residential site located at 152 Wayne Place SE. After a record year that included the creation of satellite sites in Virginia and Maryland, the D.C. office of the nation’s largest non-profit veteran services provider is proud to welcome public officials, veterans, and community members as they honor our nation’s heroes. Speakers will include Air Force Veteran Trevino Terry, National Daughters of the American Revolution Treasurer Janet McFarland, and U.S.VETS — Washington D.C. Executive Director Clifton Lewis.
In the last year, U.S.VETS — Washington D.C. has provided 11,268 bed nights; 13,010 meals; 1,206 mental health assessments; and 109 job placements. These services are provided with the support of staff, volunteers, donors, and partners. Every veteran from the District, Maryland and Virginia who come through its doors receive the assistance they need to successfully transition into post-military life because of community supporters. U.S.VETS specifically thanks Rebuilding Together DC Alexandria for its partnership that has introduced dedicated volunteers and provided free grounds and building upgrades since 2018. Rebuilding Together DC Alexandria was also integral in the creation of U.S.VETS’ Veterans Day Luncheon.
