Death and the King’s Horseman Staged Reading at Shakespeare Theatre Company
Michael R. Klein Theatre at Shakespeare Theatre Company
More detailsAbout This Event
Come attend an amazing reading of Wole Soyinka’s “Death and the King’s Horseman” at Shakespeare Theatre Company.
To culminate the first year of STC’s collaboration with Howard University as part of The Shift, there will be a free staged reading at the Michael R. Klein Theatre at the Lansburgh. This event will include a post-show discussion.
“Death and the King’s Horseman blends European literary theater with total-theater traditions from the Yoruba tribe in Southwest Nigeria. Through poetry, chorus, politics, and storytelling, Soyinka both entertains and asks subtle questions about mass psychology, individual psychology, and universal human struggles of the will.” –The Chicago Tribune
This free staged reading will also be livestreamed by the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
