The 13th Annual Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge is a gathering of embassy chefs from around the world, showcasing the unique flavors of their home countries in a friendly, delicious culinary competition. With 40+ embassies participating from across the globe, the 2022 challenge offers an international and immersive foodie experience only possible in Washington, DC.
Attendees will travel the world with their taste buds, sampling bites and beverages from the participating countries. A panel of judges will select the winner of the Judges’ Choice Award, while attendees can cast a vote for their favorite dish awarded to the People’s Choice Award.
This year’s judging panel includes Esther Ciammachilli, Host ‘Morning Edition’ on WAMU 88.5 FM; David Deshaies, Chef/Owner, Unconventional Diner and L’Ardente; Tom Sietsema, Food Critic, The Washington Post and Dr. Erinn Tucker-Oluwole, Director, Global Hospitality Leadership, Georgetown University SCS and Co-Founder, DMV Black Restaurant Week. The event will be emceed by Nycci Nellis, Owner, The ListAreYouOnIt.com.
The Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge not only encourages culinary diplomacy but also highlights the global achievements of the area’s awe-inspiring musicians, dancers and singers. This year’s entertainment will include performances of music, art and dance, by representatives from the Embassies of Azerbaijan, Barbados, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines and Serbia.
