Photo Gallery: Tedeschi Trucks Band Returns to the Historic Warner Theatre // 2.3.22
February 7, 2022 @ 2:00pm
After a two-year hiatus, the Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to Washington, D.C. to kick off their annual weekend residencies at the historic Warner Theatre. The band’s name comes from the legendary blues couple: Derek Trucks on guitar (God-mode guitar) and Susan Tedeschi on guitar and vocals (her voice goes up to 11). Tyler Greenwell and new band member Isaac Eady keep things steady on the drums and percussion while Mike Mattison, Mark Rivers, and Alecia Chakour add in their stunning vocals and harmonies. The horn section is composed of Kebbi Williams on sax, Ephraim Owens on trumpet and Elizabeth Lea on trombone. Brandon Boone brings the funk on bass and Gabe Dixon rounds out the group on keyboards, organ and vocals. Each member brings their own individual style and flair to the mix, yielding the group’s iconic, soulful sound.
Sean Walsh and Jon LaDeau of The National Reserve opened up the evening at the Warner with their self-proclaimed signature style of “late-night soul and boozy rock n’ roll.” The duo perfectly set the scene for an evening of blues rock & roll that had Warner Theatre rumbling with applause before the night was over. Around 9:15 p.m., Tedeschi Trucks Band walked on stage to the sound of cheers and applause at one of their most beloved venues. “Darlin’ Be Home Soon” topped the setlist, leading into “Signs,” the title track from their 2019 album. The group also covered “Bell Bottom Blues” by Derek and The Dominos and “Key To The Highway,” first recorded in 1940 by Charlie Segar. Check out the full setlist below:
