In a year when time seemed to stop in March, it’s hard to believe the holidays are here. This weekend, get into the spirit of the season with a Step Afrika! show, a Christmas-themed drag musical or last-minute holiday shopping at a pop-up shop. Get Social Pizza Pop-Up
Get Social will operate out of the popular Shaw spot HalfSmoke restaurant, offering a rotating selection of Detroit-style pizzas. The savory pies will incorporate fermented dough baked in blue steel rectangle pans, that are topped with a robust sauce of crushed jersey tomatoes and real cheese, as well as classic local and adventurous ingredients. Customers who place an order during the pop-up’s first week of service, December 14-18, will receive complimentary cinnamon sugar donuts with each pizza purchase. Various times. K-Cinema at Home: “The Divine Fury”
K-Cinema at Home brings great Korean films straight to your home and into your comfort zone. All screenings are free, but advance registration is required and the number of virtual tickets is limited. Step Afrika!’s Magical Musical Holiday Step Show
As the world’s first holiday show highlighting the African American tradition of stepping, the Magical Musical Holiday Step Show is a feast for the eyes and ears. A Candlelight Christmas
The Washington Chorus (TWC)’s beloved annual holiday tradition returns in a series of livestreamed performances that celebrate the spirit of the Christmas season with joy, reflection and plenty of holiday cheer. Reimagined as a socially distanced chamber chorus concert led by TWC Artistic Director Eugene Rogers, members of TWC are joined by organ, bells and other instruments of the season for a beautifully intimate and unique Christmas concert. Claws Out: A Holiday Drag Musical
Christmas will never be the same after this world premiere holiday drag musical hits the screen. After attempting to give the north a new look, Mrs. Rachel Claus (Shua Potter) finds herself face-to-face with a contract clause allowing her to be replaced by newcomer Roberta (Monteze Freeland). With her crown in jeopardy, the stage is set for an epic showdown, and the North Pole has never been so icy.
