Old Ebbitt Grill’s Fourth Annual BrewHaHa
September 23, 2016 @ 12:00am
Kick off DC Beer Week with the fourth annual BrewHaHa, the marquee event where local craft brewers team up with area chefs to create perfect pairings of bites and sips. Join hundreds of other beer lovers in the grand and glamorous atrium at Old Ebbitt Grill, a landmark in DC dining, for an all-inclusive evening of food and drink. Live music by Only Lonesome and Crooked Angels, two bands with bluegrass roots, will keep your toes tapping all night.
David Moran, Ebbitt’s general manager for 25 years, has been watching the craft beer movement in the U.S. since its early beginnings about a decade ago when folks began exploring brews like Samuel Adams. Now it’s all about small batch and local products.
“In the last three to five years, there have been a run on craft beers,” he says. “Brewers are like rock stars. People are really dialed into it.”
The lineup of talent changes every year, and for this rendition, BrewHaHa has invited 10 local brewers and 10 chefs to participate. They teamed up in pairs a month ago to come up with dishes that complement the beer, and vice versa.
“I’m excited about what these great artists come up with,” Moran says. “Old Ebbitt is one of the oldest saloons in town, just a couple of blocks from the White House. We are proud to host this event, and to be ambassadors for the city and the beer community.”
The party kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and goes until 10:30 p.m. For tickets, visit the Hamilton’s website.
