Five Fur-Friendly DC Restaurants

We can start to feel the end of summer approaching.

Fall festivities are awesome, but there is something special about enjoying a meal or a drink with your furry friends outdoors during summer time.

Next time you want to grab a bite to eat, don’t leave Fido at home! Soak up all that is left of this DC summer at any of these dog-friendly places. Some even offer special treats just for your pup, like “”pup-sicles” and “pup-tinis!”

Art and Soul

415 New Jersey Ave. NW, DC

We all spoil our furry friends because well, they deserve the world. Art and Soul understands this, with a menu specifically for dogs that they can enjoy on the patio. Your pup can drink an ice cold bowser beer next to you while taking in the stunning view of the capital. For humans, this restaurant offers up a delicious, modern southern cuisine for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

#FrayLifeTip: If it’s a hot one outside, help your pup cool down with a peanut banana popsicle.

Wet Dog Tavern

415 New Jersey Ave. NW, DC

The name itself should tell you this is a dog-friendly restaurant and bar. The restaurant was actually founded and inspired by “the legacy” of the owners’ golden retriever, Lilly Sophia, who sadly passed away; she loved to swim, hence the name Wet Dog. Her memory lives on through all of the pets who come and enjoy quality time with their owners at this fur-friendly beer garden.

#FrayLifeTip: Enjoy mouthwatering burgers and drinks galore during happy hour Monday-Friday, 4-7 p.m.

Jackson 20

480 King St. Alexandria, VA

Jackson 20 serves two-legged creatures and four legged-ones! This restaurant is part of the Old Town Alexandrian Hotel, and has an awesome pet-friendly patio. Plus, they host Barks, Brews and Bites happy hour every Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Pup-tinis and yummy treats are whipped up special for your furry pal, and for the human, enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and fine southern cuisine.

Chef Geoff’s

3201 New Mexico Ave. NW, DC

Sunday brunch is everyone’s favorite day of the week, but Chef Geoff’s makes it even better with their dog-friendly patio. The umbrellas on the patio will help keep you and your pup cool, and a bowl of water will be given to your most special guest. For brunch, try sweet cream stuffed french toast, or a falafel waffle.

#FrayLifeTip: If you’re feeling hungry, take advantage of the “sunset special” every day from 4-6:30pm. You get three courses for $27.95!

Cafe Saint-Ex

1847 18th St. NW, DC

This is the place to bring your dog for happy hour. On Mondays, come out for a patio “yappy hour” and spoil your dog with tasty treats. For the two-legged, less adorable guests, enjoy a variety of apps starting at only $3, $5 wine and cocktails and $2 off draft beer.
