Pour, Tear, Carve: Material Possibilities in the Collection will include over 60 works from the museum’s permanent collection—sculpture, painting, photography, textiles, and more. The exhibition explores how artists have used both historical and contemporary materials to form memories and stimulate the senses. It’ll include works that have long been a part of the museum’s collection, as well as recent additions by contemporary artists, with works by Sanford Biggers, Dindga McCannon, Jeffrey Gibson alongside Joan Mitchell, Georges Braque, Irene Rice Pereira, and more.
Special exhibition runs March 18- May 14, 2023
