Donisima, the award-winning donut concept beloved by Washingtonians, is opening its first permanent flagship store. The brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Miguel Guerra of Mita, Donisima was born from a pandemic baking project between Miguel and his father in Colombia. The concept takes the classic American donut and transforms it into a showcase for Latin American flavors: think arequipe and queso fresco, guava and cheese, mango passionfruit, and picarones with chicha morada glaze. The flagship will also offer baked goods, savory items, and a full beverage lineup centered on thoughtful non-alcoholic creations. For Miguel, this is a homecoming, a childhood love of donuts, deepened by a father-son bond across borders, now given a permanent home.
WHEN: The flagship will be open Wednesday, June 10 at 11:00AM. First 50 customers get a free tote
WHERE: La Cosecha, 1280 4th ST NE, Washington D.C.’s
WHY: Donisima earned a loyal following during its pop-up years at La Cosecha, including being named Reader’s Choice Best Doughnut by *Washingtonian* and recognized as a semifinalist for Best of Washington. After a pause to open Mita, the celebrated Michelin-starred restaurant on V Street, Chef Miguel is returning to the concept he never stopped thinking about. The flagship is the next chapter: a place where Latin American culinary heritage meets everyday comfort food, and where every donut tells a little bit of a family story.
