About This Event
What do you get when two art museums committed to celebrating women artists collaborate? BMA x NMWA! This monthly talk show puts women artists and their artworks in conversation with each other, across two museums. Join educators from the Baltimore Museum of Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts—sometimes with artists and special guests—as they consider themes relevant to contemporary artists and you!
In this series finale, educators from both museums welcome artists Renée Stout and SHAN Wallace, who make our communities their home. Renée Stout, who lived in Washington, D.C. since 1985, discusses how her work is inspired by everyday experiences in her neighborhood, the challenges and hardships of urban life, current events and the African Diaspora.
Baltimore-born SHAN Wallace shares how her recent work with the BMA—including the 410 exhibition, SHAN Wallace: The Avenue exterior installation, and programming at the BMA’s branch location at Lexington Market—activates public spaces to celebrate and engage the citizens of Baltimore.
BMA x NMWA: Pride of Place will livestream Tuesday, June 8, at 12 p.m. EDT. The live stream will be available on both the BMA and NMWA Facebook pages.
