“Diff’Rent Strokes For Different Folks”: Artist Talk with Dorian “Jay” Durrah
About this event
Saturday, December 10th, 2022 4pm – 6pm at Art Of Noize, located at 821 Upshur Street, NW, Rear, Washington, DC 20011, we will be having the Artist Talk for the current exhibition, “Diff’rent Strokes For Different Folks”, featuring work by Jay Durrah.
Originally from Western PA and a Howard University alumni, Jay Durrah is a modern day impressionist who paints portraits of people using multiple layers of colors. His burgeoning style strategically places patches of vibrant colors on canvas to form beautiful figures. The use of multiple colors represents the multiracial aspect of humans. Through his art, Jay would like people to focus on the commonality of humanity.
Jay has shown his work in museums, galleries, corporate shows, and music and art festivals in New York, Miami, New Orleans, Chicago , Atlanta, and DC to name a few. Jay has done several public art projects in the DMV area, to include a mural on display at the National Buildings Museum depicting a young Black boy holding a sign asking, “Am I Next”, and 5 large historically relevant pieces for the pavilion of the newly renovated Sis’s Tavern in North Brentwood.
Refreshments will be available for guests. Original work and prints will be available for purchase. This is a free, family friendly event. All are welcome. We hope to see you there!
